Consulate General of India, Jeddah would like to inform all Indian nationals living under its jurisdiction that they should register the birth of their children within one-year of birth in order to get an Indian Passport issued to them. It may be noted that a delay beyond one-year may create problems in automatic acquisition of Indian citizenship and issuance of an Indian passports for their children.
It may be noticed that while a Saudi Ministry of Civil Affairs’ (or Municipality) Birth Certificate is a mandatory requirement for Birth Registration – in genuine cases, the Consulate may register birth on the basis of Hospital Certificate/ Ministry of Health Certificate. This would enable parents having genuine problems in getting a Municipality’s Birth Certificate (on account of illegal stay, Expired Iqama etc.) to get their wards’ birth registered within the stipulated time period of one year.
