Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri, Consul General of India to Jeddah
An engineer by qualification, with a master’s in business administration and an investment banking experience from London, Mr. Suri, a career diplomat, has over 10 years of diplomatic experience.
Mr. Suri’s first diplomatic assignment was to the Embassy of India, Cairo, from 2016 to 2018, where, apart from the other duties at the Embassy, he obtained an Advanced Diploma in Arabic Language from the American University, Cairo. He later served as the Second/First Secretary at Embassy of India in Kuwait from 2018 to 2021 handling a wide range of work portfolios including political, commercial, administration, media and culture.
Later, he worked as Under Secretary/Deputy Secretary in the Department of Commerce, Government of India, from 2021 to 2024, managing trade and commercial relationship with 19 countries in the West Asia and North Africa (WANA) region, including the 6 countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Mr. Suri has also been part of the negotiating team that concluded India’s fastest ever negotiated Free Trade Agreement i.e., the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). He was also lead Goods negotiator for India in other Trade negotiations, including with Oman and Australia.
Mr. Suri arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on August 11, 2024, and assumed charge as the Consul General of India to Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on August 11, 2024.
